strings

Numerous studies have shown that music has a tremendous impact on child development, and experts recommend music as a key part of school education. Evidence has shown that learning music--specifically a musical instrument--enhances everything from language communication skills to math and reading.

As schools across the country are cutting the arts, PUC Elementary is strengthening our music program. It is an integral part of our curriculum, and musical expression is cultivated from kindergarten through eighth grade.

PUC Elementary students learn a string instrument of their choice: violin, viola, or cello. Classes meet three times a week, taught by Linda Marks. These sessions are included in general tuition costs and instruments are provided. Our strings program is enriched with optional after-school string ensembles for multiple learning levels. Students have many opportunities to perform locally, and have even performed at the California State Capitol and Sydney Opera House in Australia!
